Found in Zimbabwe, Western Cape in South Africa and Reunion on grassy slopes at elevations of sea-level to 1900 metres as a miniature to small sized, cold growing terrestrial with ovoid, villous tubers giving rise to an erect, sheathless scape with 2, adpressed to the ground, cordate, pilose above leaves that blooms usually without leaves in the late winter through spring on an erect, 4 to 7cm long, spreading hairy, fairly densely many (30 to 50) flowered inflorescence with secund, non-resupinate (most often) flowers
