Found in Myanmar, Sri Lanka, India, China, Nepal and Bhutan at elevations of 780 to 2000 metres as a small to medium sized, warm to cool growing epiphyte with an erect stem enveloped by leafless and leaf-bearing sheaths and carrying, equitant, oblong, coriaceous, unequally bilobed and tridentate apically leaves that blooms in the spring on an axillary, stout, 5 to 25cm long, laxly many flowered inflorescence
